The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Impressions
07/07/03
I’m sure we’ve all seen The Lord of The Ring Movies….but now the creamy goodness that we know and love is now a video game!
When you first load up LOTR, you get some sweet eye candy in the form of a movie, which in turn tells you the story of The One Ring, and Middle Earth and all that good stuff. Then POW! Right away you’re in the middle of the action. You take control of a human soldier (Isildur) and battle your way through Orcs.
Eventually, the game goes to a cut-scene and shows Isildur cutting the Ring from Saron’s hand…and saving the day (for the time being) But of course, as the story goes…Man’s hearts are easily corrupted and he keeps the ring. Which, eventually through time brings us to where the game really begins…Where you get to control either Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli…I personally can’t wait to control Legolas…’cause I have an elf fetish and all…but don’t tell anyone!!
This is mainly all I’ve played so far. But to say the least I loved every second of it! The controls, take a bit of getting used to. But once you learn them it’s easy to attack, defend, and string combinations together like nobody’s business!
Another thing I’d like to mention, is how they string the videos together…some of it is straight from the movie itself, and some of it is all computer generated. The transition from Movie clip, to the computer generated cut-scenes are flawless and look absolutely stunning.
So far I’ve enjoyed everything about this game, from the controls, to the music, to the graphics. I’m not saying it’s a stellar game and that everyone should go out and buy it…But I can tell I’m going to thoroughly take pleasure in kicking some Orc ass, and that it is at least definitely worth a rent!
Well, that’s a quick run down of what I experienced from my quick encounter with the game…I’ll write a review eventually so you know exactly how this game holds up.
Also, I just bought MegaMan: Network Transition, I’ll probably whip up a quick “First Impressions” review of it too within the next couple of days…so keep a look out for it.
