Enter the Matrix Impressions
Is it worth all the hype or is it just pure crap?
I can assure you it is not. Now usually with stellar blockbuster movies, comes a game that is usually a piece of trash, built for the soul purpose to make a buck. Enter the Matrix is not one of these titles.
The game was written by the Wachowski brothers the same guys that wrote the Matrix Movies. The actual game designers were under strict supervision by the brothers, quality assurance at its best.
The game plays out as a side story to the matrix where you take control of either Niobi or Ghost, and battle your way through various levels including warehouses and streets. Enter the Matrix features various styles of gameplay ranging from Fighting to driving. Not to mention the slow motion antics. The coolest part I found is being able to run on the walls while shooting guards, then before they hit the ground you still have time to to either drop kick them or round house them into a wall, god bless slow motion!. Which leads me to my next point the fighting engine, which is absolutely gorgeous, reenacting kun-fu moves with life like precision and detail, or just plain shooting. The attention to detail is spectacular.
The part that really amazed me is how much the game actually feels like the Movies. Take for instance, the running. You always find yourself running, smashing through the doors to get to your objective. Taking brief seconds to knock off guards that are chasing you..
Enter the matrix story is a mixture between real video footage, and computer generated, which really brings the story to life. It makes it feel like your actually watching the movie but at the same time playing it. Not to many games have succeeded with this style of story telling.
The Control scheme is fairly decent it fits to the style of gameplay very well. I just didn’t really like holding down the R button to strafe. Which really isn’t that bad because they give different setups to choose from.
To conclude, I guarantee you if you’re a fan of the Movies you will love this game, I’ve only spent about 3 hours playing it so far but what I’ve played is astonishing. Something that counsel gamers have been waiting for since Max Payne debuted on the PC.
Watch for my review coming soon…
