Alkaline Trio Crimson

One of my all time favorite bands, The Alkaline Trio. Consisting of Guitarist/Vocals Matt Skiba, Bassist/Vocals Dan Andirano and Drummer/Vocals Derek Grant. Together they just released their New Album Crimson, which was in stores last May.

I picked up my copy on release date and it has not come out of stereo since. It’s down right some of their best work. I seriously thought that (in my eyes anyways) they would never be able to top what they did on “From here to Infirmary” but they did it, with Crimson. The album opens up with “Time to waste” starting off quiet, dark, and gloomy setting the mood with some slow piano, a couple seconds into it the onslaught of raging guitars begin, sliced apart by Matt’s Vocals sends your ear drums into punk heaven. Call it pop punk if you want but that term is far to overused and has lost its meaning, I just classify them as Damn good Music.

Their lyrics are dark, and create vivid landscape of messed up imagery, which is hard to get out of your head. The best part is the vocals are composed of both Matt Skiba and Dan Andriano giving you two different yet equally in-depth vocals styles, it really complements the variations on the disc. I also like how the trio used piano on this disc, it really emphasizes and helps to create the mood.

To keep this short and sweet Crimson is by far there best work, Matt Skiba’s loud hard fast passed guitar + Dan Andriano possibly one of the greatest bassist out there, and Derek Grants Drumming, collide into one hell of a combination, that in the end turns into Crimson.

Current favorites: the whole Album!!! Specifically: Burn, I was a Prayer, Back to Hell, Your Neck, The Poison, Time to Waste, Sadie and Prevent this Tragedy.
