First before I write anything I must admit I am a huge Tim Burton fan, as far as I am concerned all his movies top notch so in my book so this review is kind of one sided. I totally enjoyed the movie, straight down from its wacky title to witty songs. Think about a man marrying a corpse only in the world of Tim Burton could this concept come to light and be passed as something viable and not messed up.
Stop motion animation has to be one of the greatest types of animation out there, in a time where everything is done CGI, heavy computer graphics, its getting to point where almost anything can be done in the medium that is film. Stop motion takes a step back in time and really creates quite a beautiful atmosphere in which the story of the corpse bride is told.
Visually its possibly one of the most beautiful animated movie created, its gloomy atmosphere and often bland feel of the living is accented beautiful with the lively vibrant world of the dead.
The characters are funny in a very macabre way, which makes sense if you watch the movie. They are animated beautifully.
I also believe this film is nominated for an Academy award in animation.
Danny Elfman provides the music, which is awesome as usual. There is one instrument I am not sure what it is but its used in the opening credits that really establishes original tone for this movie that is possibly one of the greatest parts.
Without spoiling the story line, which I think you can get the jest of it just from the title I highly recommended seeing it especially if you were a fan of The Nightmare before Christmas.
