If you look at some of the games already available on the DS, you’d know that a bunch of them are original, crazy games. Nintendo, and the creator of the bizarre dreamcast game “seaman” are set to release Odama, which is a crazy unique game for the GameCube.
Crazy in what way, one might ask.
Well, for starters, it’s a pinball game with elements of real-time strategy. Not exactly the two types anyone would think to mix together.
Odama takes place in Feudal Japan. You play as the son of a murdered nobleman who is out to avenge his father’s death by, get this, building a super weapon called the odama, which is the “ball” in this pinball game.
Players use giant flippers (controlled by men) to bounce the ball through landscapes and battlefields populated with massive amounts of enemy soldiers. The goal of the game on each level is to pass the Odama through the gates at the top of the screen. Easier said then done, apparently.
At your disposal is an army of your own, however, and using the included GameCube microphone, you can issue voice commands to your troops to charge the enemy, seize certain points and so on. Very cool.
Certainly original and whacky, Odama looks to be a very stylish and addictive game. More info to come.
